AWT Gave Support to an Evangelical Church in Orlová
12.6.2011

Impressive singing of the Choral Society of Moravian Teachers was heard in the Evangelical Church in Orlová on Saturday, 11 June. AWT Rekultivace, which in the past fundamentally recultivated the church’s surroundings and still does maintenance there, also contributed to the organization of the concert promoting this almost 150-year-old landmark.

Among other compositions, those of leading Czech composers Antonín Dvořák, Leoš Janáček or Bedřich Smetana were heard at the concert, as well as folk songs. Perfect acoustics of the church potentiated the grand performance of the male chorus.

The AWT Group donated CZK 10,000 to the Endowment Fund of the Friends of the Historic Landmark of Silesian Evangelical Church of Augsburg Denomination. This landmark is a one-nave structure from 1862, implemented by a builder Josef Gros from Těšín in the style of fading romantic classicism.  It was repaired several times in the past, last time in 2005. Because of the age of the church, further reconstructions are necessary, for example a replacement of roof covering or windows, for which the Endowment Fund gathers resources.

In the neighborhood of the Evangelical Church on Cingr's Hill we have performed technical and biological recultivation. For example we have cleaned the territory of illegal dumps, we have removed functionless power poles, cleared airborne or damaged woody plants and on the other hand planted new bushes. We have also renovated the former evangelic and catholic cemetery, which had not been used for 50 years; we have removed the tombstones, restored the pathway and modified the funeral grounds," says Andrzej Santarius, Director of the Recultivation Division of the AWT Group, and adds that the company has been still doing maintenance there. “When we were asked for a donation to the local church, we did not have to think twice. We are not indifferent to the environment where we live and in whose improvement we are involved,” adds Santarius.

Technical and biological recultivation of Cingr's Hill for almost 1.5 million crowns started in 2008 and lasted until 2009. AWT Rekultivace will do maintenance there until 2013 – trimming of the growth, protection and additional planting of bushes, liquidation of hop-trees or removal of dry and fallen branches.
